If you ever feel like you get more sad or anxious when the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter, you’re not alone. It’s called Seasonal Affective Disorder, and here are four strategies to help you cope . . .
1. Have a routine. Something as simple as going to bed and waking up at the same time every day can make a big difference in how you feel.
2. Get some exposure to light every day. Experts recommend at least 30 minutes a day of natural light outdoors or a medical-grade light device. And it’s better to do it earlier in the morning than later in the day.
3. Stick to activities that keep you feeling good. Especially exercising regularly, socializing, and eating a well-balanced diet.
4. Talk to your doctor. If you take all the steps and still don’t feel right, don’t be afraid to get your doctor involved. They can check to see if all your levels are good and recommend additional resources.
