A high-speed chase that began after a burglary and pursuit near North Bend was caught on camera by a King County Sheriff’s Office chopper. The incident began shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday when the victims, who are in their 80s, called 911 to report a burglary at their home. While speaking with the couple, a King County Sheriff’s Office sergeant learned a .357 Magnum handgun was stolen along with a checkbook and other items. Snoqualmie police and King County deputies went to the store where a woman with the stolen checkbook was arrested. Deputies said they discovered the woman had an accomplice in a vehicle somewhere near the store. The vehicle and accomplice were recognized by a detective in an unmarked car, police said. When deputies tried to stop the car, the man refused to stop and a pursuit began on Interstate 90. During the chase, Washington State Patrol troopers deployed spike strips but the fleeing driver was able to avoid them. Police said the driver reached speeds of at least 90 mph and was passing traffic on the shoulder of the road. After entering northbound Interstate 405, the driver pulled over to the right shoulder and surrendered to police. The 33-year-old man and 37-year-old woman from Renton were booked into the King County Jail on charges of theft of a firearm, first-degree burglary, second-degree theft and forgery. The man was also booked on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and eluding
